Pool Services

Swimming is a wonderful activity for many dogs.
Swimming increases strength, flexibility, and endurance.
Swimming in the warm water of a pool can be helpful:
-for rehabilitation after surgery or injury
-as a non-weight bearing exercise for older or infirm animals
-to improve conditioning and fitness for the athlete
-as a weight-management tool
-to alleviate boredom and stress
-OR just for FUN!

At Seneca Hill, swimming is unique. Our pool is kept at a comfortable temperature
of 80 degrees. It is kept clean and sanitary using optimal techniques.
Bromine in the water, instead of chlorine, is kinder to your dog's skin and eyes.
Depending on your pet's needs, a custom plan is developed to help your dog
benefit from and enjoy the swim sessions maximally. Our handlers will follow
the specific instructions of your veterinarian.
For the animal that is not ill, we can develop a plan to meet your needs.
All sessions are supervised by an attendant. Unless your dog is a proven swimmer,
life jackets are used to help the dog feel secure by increasing buoyancy
and allowing easier control by the handler.
Dogs that are novice swimmers are gently introduced to the pool, which may take
some time. Our pool has a gently sloping ramp or easy grip stairs for the dogs to use.
Once in the pool, time is spent being sure the dog feels secure and not afraid before
swimming starts. Some dogs do well swimming in place with the handler,
others swim laps and circuits around the 10 by 30 foot pool. For our athletes,
resistance jets create a current for the dog to swim against to
increase the work-out.All dogs are welcome to swim at Seneca Hill.
Please stop in and see our beautiful pool.
